For weeks, Bayley laughed at Bianca Belair. But the SmackDown Women’s Champion had the last laugh inside Hell in a Cell, winning a brutal battle to retain the title.

With flames adorning Belair’s gear, the Hell in a Cell first-timer appeared well aware of what awaited her inside the demonic structure and was ready for the unique stage.

But after a hot start by Bianca, The Role Model reversed course by countering a superplex, slamming the titleholder face-first into one ring post before smashing her left shoulder into another and continuing to target the same arm.

Bayley showed there was no line she wouldn’t cross. The challenger bit Belair and even tied her hair in a knot around the bottom rope to keep her at bay.

Bianca turned the tables, driving Bayley through Kendo sticks with a spinebuster and further brutalizing her after tethering her own hair to Bayley’s arm.

Belair combined equal parts innovation and viciousness to put Bayley away. After hitting a Senton with the challenger on the ladder, Bianca planted Bayley with the K.O.D. on the same ladder for the victory.

We see Bianca Belair walking backstage. She has a challenge for Bayley tonight. Back to commercial.

We go back to the ring and out comes SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair to a pop. Belair swings her hair and hits the ring with a mic.

Belair says ever since she won the title from Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37, Bayley has been so pressed, but she hasn’t done anything about it but just laugh. Belair says Bayley should realize the WWE Universe isn’t laughing with her, but at her, because what’s so funny? Belair admits Bayley’s laugh is getting to her, more than she actually thought it would. Belair says Bayley isn’t the first person to try her. Belair goes on about how people have been trying her since she was 3 feet tall. She left all those people in the dust as she found success. Fans cheer her on. Belair says she has dealt with the teasers, doubters and bullies, but after all she’s been through she’s never had someone laugh at her in her face. That’s utter disrespect and she’s not standing for that.

Belair says this is what she proposes… she challenges Bayley and wants Bayley to take her cackling self and meet her in the ring at Hell In a Cell. Belair promises Bayley won’t be laughing then. Bayley, what’s good? Belair is waiting but Bayley is nowhere to be seen. Belair asks if she’s going to come accept this challenge, or what? We start hearing Bayley laugh but we don’t see her. Belair is looking around. Bayley finally appears on the big screen and taunts Belair. Bayley has been laughing at people like Belair her whole life. Bayley says she’s even there tonight, she’s live via satellite. We see Bayley sitting in a room with photos of herself all over the walls, she calls it her sanctuary where she finds peace.

Bayley accepts the challenge and says when she beats Belair for the title, she will be laughing but she won’t be the only one laughing. Bayley continues laughing while Belair raises the title in the air. The ThunderDome screens in the arena go dark and start filling up with Bayley’s satellite feed, of her laughing. Belair looks around terrified.

– The post-WrestleMania Backlash edition of WWE SmackDown on FOX opens live with Michael Cole welcoming us to the ThunderDome at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. He’s joined at ringside by Pat McAfee. Cole introduces a Parade of Champions on the stage. We see new SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews with Commander Azeez, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya and Tamina Snuka. Cole hypes tonight’s Fatal 4 Way for the Intercontinental Title, saying it will be the main event.

Cole sends us to Sonya Deville in the ring. She welcomes us to an extra special SmackDown. She talks about the news that broke today on WWE leaving the ThunderDome to return to the road, back where WWE belongs, back to the fans. Deville says Adam Pearce is on the ground scouting locations for the tour. We see mainstream media coverage of today’s announcement. Deville hypes the Parade of Champions and introduces each champion but Crews calls for the music to be cut. He’s not happy about having to defend in a Fatal 4 Way tonight, but says he will retain and will unleash destruction on Big E, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Deville introduces Belair last among the champions on the stage.

Deville now calls on fans to welcome the WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns. The music hits but out comes Paul Heyman to the stage instead. Fans are already booing. Heyman says the Parade of Champions is nice but it’s not a parade of champions, it’s a parade of title holders. He points at each champion and calls them a title holder, and says Reigns is not a title holder, he’s a champion, not just a champion, THE champion, the preeminent champions, of all of WWE, and all of sports entertainment. Heyman says when fans buy tickets to these upcoming events, they will do it with confidence that WWE is represented by a preeminent champion like our Tribal Chief. Heyman says Reigns will not be involved in this Parade of Title Holders, but there will be a Parade of Champion later tonight, at Reigns’ leisure. Heyman thanks Deville and heads back to the back to boos.

Deville says that’s the first surprise of the evening, but probably not the last. She calls on the fans to applaud the champions one more time. Bayley hits the ring to interrupt. She’s mad she wasn’t recognized for her title reign through the ThunderDome era. She takes a shot at Dominik first, for riding his dad’s coattails. Raquel’s music hits as she raises the title in the air next to Kai. The music interrupts and out comes new RAW Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley to a big pop. The music interrupts next and out comes new SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair. Belair hits the ring and dances around with her title. We see a throwback photo on the big screen, showing all three women posing together early in their NXT careers. They stand tall in the middle of the ring and raise their titles as fans chant “NXT!” and cheer them on. The champs hug and continue celebrating to end the segment.
